
BARD'S TALE III - complete solution

This "short" description includes only the most basic steps which are needed
for completing the game and the activities required. It is necessary to draw
down the maps. I suggest you to go through the all labyrinths step by step and
record everything of any use as well as the  notes and the legends which you
can find there by tens. All will come in handy.

The most important thing in the game is to fight, fight and fight again,
because that is the only way how to gain the experience points. Thanks to them
you will be able to work out the strong group that you would be lost without.
In the fight, think ahead. It is too late to heal your group by the spell when
your wizard is dead - when he turned to stone or he went mad when an enemy
threw the spell. Never waste your spellpoints.Watch out for your characters to
have some free space in inventory (each one can carry max. 12 objects), because
there is no other way how to pick up objects that you gain during the fight.
Manipulate with the objects, try to use them on all characters. In the fight,
better for you is to know every inprovement of your armament and equipment. One
among the best weapons is deadly sword Stoneblade (each monster immediately
turns to stone after the hit of any power).The enemies grow stronger with every
next maze. They are many times stronger than in previous one, so try to
increase level of the characters and use the tactics. All entries to particular
levels are situated in the Wilderness. The old man will tell you the location
after succesful completing your task in previous dimension. He will also teach
you the spells needed for teleportation into those distant regions.

I could write you more about it, but I believe that you are able to find out
more about the game by yourselves (as I did). This is the one thing that gives
you more delight from play...

And here we go:

After creating your group of adventurers walk carefully throughout the
wilderness and gain as many weapons, money and experience as possible. Then go
to the pub and exchange various amounts of money for important news. A monk who
also lives there can heal almost all your illnesses, but don't go there without
some money. Walk through whole Skara Brae, the old man in Review Board is the
most important figure in the game. He can increase the levels, teach you the
spells and he also tells you through the entire game what to do. Through the
temple of god Tarjan walk down to first dungeons (password TARJAN) and wipe it
out there. But you have to reach 6th level for each character otherwise you
have no chance to match them. Don't forget to pick up Harmonic Gem
continuously, because that's the only way how to add your spellpoints quickly
and effectively. It can hold through the entire game. After some time, walk
down (passwords are CHAOS, SHADOW, BLUE, SWORD), find Brilhasti ap Tarj and
kill him. Go back to Review Board and if you still don't have a Chronomancer,
train him. Don't forget to return to the forest and pick any bottle in the pub.
Attention: Don't drink it!

Enter the dimension Arboria. You have to find Valarians Bow and Arrows of Life
in here. If you still have free post in your group, let Hawkslayer join you, he
will come in handy as a fighter. Go to Cierra Brania and talk to the King.
After that, proceed and chat with the Barkeeper. Arefolia leaves can provide
you with underwater breathing ability. Find Acorns beneath the another tree and
pick up some. Find the fisher and learn GILL spell - underwater breathing (it's
much better than usage of leaves). Dive into the lake and find where the Water
of Life springs. Pump it several times into the canteen until it's full. When
used, it heals selected character. But don't waste it, you will need it. Go
back and up in the Valarians Tower. At the right place use the acorn and the
Water of Life. Enter and pick up the Nightspear with which you will kill
necromant called TSLOTHA GARNATH. Go to Festering Pit, find him and beat him
up. Take his heart and head and hand them in to the king in Cierra Brania. Now
you can go to Sacred Grove, where you use the heart of Tslotha Garnath and the
Water of Life. Pass through, take Valarian's Bow and the Arrows of Life and
carry them to Review Board.

Now continue to Gelidia. Your aim is to find another two important objects, the
Wand of Power and the Sphere of Lanatir. Go through the flat and in the
decomposited hut read the diary of the dead elf Alendar (interesting but sad
reading). Then go to Ice Keep (use name Hawkslayer or Alendar to get there, but
there's nothing important up there). In the north-west corner use spells INWO,
WIHE, FOFO, INVI, in the south-east corner use MAFL, SHSP, FEAR, SUEL, SPBI and
in the south-east corner use north-east corner use LEVI, ANMA, PHDO. That
causes opening the entrances to the White Tower, the Grey Tower and Black
Tower. First of all, go to the White Tower. On the top, you have to eliminate
the group called White Wizards and take Crystal Lens. Similarly, in Black Tower
beat Black Wizards and take Black Lens. And finally, go to the Grey Tower and
get Smokey Lens. Attention, these fights are no pieces of cake and it is going
to be hard work to get by. Now, you have to return to Ice Keep and use those
three objects at the destination place. Walk through the entire Ice Dungeon and
in the corner situated in the eastern side of second floor say CALA. Go on and
pick up SPHERE OF LANATIR and WAND OF POWER, then return to Review Board.

Your next steps lead to the dimension called Lucencia. You have to carry the
Crown of Truth and the Belt of Alliria out of there. In the town of Celaria
Bree (kind of orchard), above all go to the Bards Hall, listen to the ballads
that are connected to the history of the country and teach Bard a new song -
Kiels Ouverture. In the pub, take another canteen. Don't drink from it. The
wizard will teach you the strongest (so far) magic DIVA, but use it in special
cases (it wastes your spellpoints). Outside, firstly walk to the Mountains and
kill Rainbow Dragon at the end of it. Fill the canteen with the blood left.
Take also the Crystal Key. Now, bo back and proceed to the Cyanis' Tower. Walk
to the wall and use Crystal key. Up there, find Cyanis, husband of dead
princess Alliria, and cast HEAL at him. Pick up Magic Triangle he will leave.
Your last steps will lead to Alliria's Tomb. But before that, collect white,
yellow, red and blue roses from bushes outside. Go to the sear bush and use
DRAGON BLOOD. Then pick up rainbow rose that you created right now. And now,
enter the tomb. Use the Magic Triangle in the north and go upstairs. During the
revelation, use the roses in this process: white, blue, red, yellow and
rainbow. At last you can take these hardly gained objects - the Crown of Truth
and the Belt of Alliria and rush to the Review Board.

Now enter Kinestia. During the meeting with Hawkslayer say the password
ICEBERG. You can recruit Hawkslayer into your group as a good fighter, if you
have any spare place. Walk through the side chambers in the seat of dwarf
Ferofist (Barracks, Private Quart) and pick up the Right Key and the Left Key.
Use them in workshop close to the gate in this order: Right (18) and Left (15).
Walk through the next two mazes (don't forget to use spell GILL and walk down
to Sanctum). Don't fight with URMECH but better talk with him. Thanks to that,
you can teach one member of your group how to be a magician in the southern
part of the mansion (valid for Bard, Warrior, Hunter, Paladin or Monk). He will
lost his previous abilities but as a reward, he will become a Geomancer, who is
able to use the extra spells. By the throne, take the object that you were
looking for, the Ferofist's Helm and the Hammer of Wrath and carry them to
Review Board.

The Old Man is about to send you to Tenebrosia now. You are expected to bring
back the Sceadu's Cloak and the Helm of Justice. From Nowhere, firstly go to
Black Scar city. Find some pub and inside it, procure yourself a canteen again
(you can talk to bartender again). After that, hurry to Wizards Guild where you
can acquire a new spell - NUKE (annihilation of enemies for 2000 - sounds cool,
doesn't it ?). Proceed to Bards Hall and teach your Bard song called Minstrel
Shield. Back to Nowhere. Walk down to Tar Quary, find (using the spells) a path
among the traps and pass to the ruins of hat. Fill the canteen with Molten Tar.
Go to the forest of Dark Corpse and burn your path through the trees (using the
tar) to the place, where you pick up the Shadow Door. Now in Nowhere, you have
to find Canyon and enter it. Destroy its thinnest wall - on the right in the
mid - and pick the Shadow Lock. Go to the center of Nowhere and use these:
Shadow Door and Shadow Lock. After while of wandering find the gate and walk
down one floor. Walk through the walls to the south end enter the door. Sceadu
is waiting for you there. That bastard is still receding from you during the
fight and he is also magic-resistant. But nevermind, your thief can creep close
to him and stabs from a hide-out. Collect the searched objects and bring them
to the old man in Review Board.

The next one is a dimension called Tarmitia. Thanks to timespace you will find
yourself in eight seasons at eight different places in our world. In each one
of these localities there's an important place, where you must tell the
appropriate password. Thanks to help in Berlin, go to:

Troy (say password ARES),
K'un Wang (YEN-LO-WANG),
Rome (MARS),
Hiroshima (SUSA-NO-O),
Stalingrad (SVARAZIC),
Nottingham (ST. GEORGE),
Wasteland (SDIABM) and back to
Berlin (TYR).

Now say name WERRA. You'll be teleported to the last labyrinth of TARMITIA.
Beware of many traps and dangerous zones here are. Go to the SW-corner and
fight with werra. After his death you must defeat some Slayers and then take
Werra's Shield from the next room. Now go to the NE-corner and teleport
yourself back to Review Board.

First thing you'll see here is dying Old Man. You can't help him just now, but
if you defeat Tarjan, your mission will be done and you'll rescue whole
reality. Go back to the gate of Skara Brae and turn to east. Enter the
store-building and get all the special things, which are here.

Now teleport your party to Malefia, land of Evil (from the mud-ladden place, 11
paces south and 3 paces east of camp). You'll see dead Hawkslayer, Tarjan's
beasts killed him - take Strifespear from him and now... the most complex
labyrints of this game await you. (Yes, it was real hell - lot of portals,
closed locations etc.) You must explore three floors of Malefia and find out
all six statues of gods - Valarian, Lanatir, Alliria, Ferofist, Sceadu and
Werra. Here you must use items according to each god. Now go to 3rd floor,
where appears door to Tarjan's realm (11 paces east and 8 paces north). Now
prepare for very tough combats!!! Then go to center of this place and you'll be
teleported in the Tarjan's mansion. Make sure you have enough of Harmonic Gems,
bcoz following battles with Tarjan's monsters are very, very hard and lengthy.

Well, if you had luck and killed Tarjan with his daemons, you'll be teleported
out of that evil land and... NICE OUTRO BEGINS.
